Coach C Pomroy
Charlie Pomroy
Charlie is professional football coach with two decades of experience across four continents working at all levels of the game. He has a proven track record of producing professional players and specialize working with players aged 15-18 years old. Currently forty seven players under the age of 22 are playing professionally in Cambodia thanks to the development system Charlie created.
As a head coach his first job was at Soltilo Angkor, where he helped them to their best ever finish in Cambodia top league. Charlie left the club and then rejoined them again a year later. Covid-19 played havoc with the season and Charlie saw just five games of the season played before he was sacked. In 2022, Charlie took his academy program and graduated it to a pro club that would play in the second division of Cambodia.
Away from coaching Pomroy has been credited with designing & implementing some truly incredible 'football for good' programs aimed to impact local communities. His after school kids clubs coached 2000 kids every single week. In 2017 coached the first ever Cambodian entry to The Gothia Cup, the world largest youth competition, in Gothenburg. He followed that up a year later breaking a world record for the most participants in a single game of football. Two thousand, seven hundred and fifty six players competed in a game that lasted five days straight.
It's been an unconventional career so far for Pomroy. His knowledge of the game is like no other with lots of fascinating insights into coaching and developing the game. His own thirst for knowledge and adventure means his catalogue of stories are more varied than most and there are not many situations within the game that he won't have either experienced or known someone that has experienced it.
